Set 304 was involved in an accident at Oyne on the 12/5/78. DMBF 51784 was withdrawn went to Glasgow Works for scrapping. It is seen there on the 6th October 1984. Bill Hamilton.

One of the stylish well-appointed Swindon Class 120 Cross-Country 3-car DMUs with DMSL M51793 at the rear of a Manchester Victoria to Blackpool North service at Leyland on October 27th 1984, coupled to a Class 104. The batch of Class 120s were allocated to Newton Heath and saw these units on Manchester-Blackpool/Southport duties as a stop-gap until new Class 142s/150s came on stream in 1985/86. Martyn Hilbert.

Scrapper. BREL Glasgow Works. Class 120 DMBF Sc51784 (Set 304) lying in the sidings at the east end of St. Rollox. It's sandwiched between a condemned 303 EMU and an old departmental coach from a wiring train. Railcar suggests this vehicle was derailed in 1978 after a road vehicle struck a rail over bridge at Oyne, Aberdeenshire. Undated negative but probably circa 1985. alicia hartman.

In 1985 class 120 DMSL 51789 is seen at Bradford Interchange on one of the recently introduced services using the Copy Pit line between Burnley and Hebden Bridge. Though still carrying Derby unit number EP504 this car was Newton Heath based for about a year up to October 1985 when it went back to Scotland to Ayr. This vehicle was part of one of the seven units used for many years between Inverness and Aberdeen which moved to Derby in October 1981. Tony Walmsley.
