Just off the platform (Wolverhampton end) is the signal box, on the platform is a very solid concrete 'gallows' pattern lamp, behind that is an early Lambretta scooter with individual seats rather than a dual seat Behind the opposite platform is the exchange sidings, a pannier tank can be seen waiting with a train, that platform had a sturdy brick built waiting room. The station was opened in 1854, today the site is occupied by the Midland Metro Wednesbury Great Western Street stop. Image taken by Peter Shoesmith 12/12/1963. A diesel Pullman unit in Swindon station sometime in 1965. The Derby suburban vehicle on the right seems to be a single car and not in a set, possibly with a tank wagon behind, and with Tavistock on the destination blind it could be in the process of being moved to/from works and Plymouth depot. Note the new BR logo being displayed in the station - a sign of things to come. Stuart Mackay Collection.
