T421 (53878 + 59741 closest) is stabled at Worcester Shrub Hill Depot on Sunday morning, the 7th October 1990. DMUs remained in the Worcester area into the 1990s but were being replaced by Class 150s, the short lived class 155s and class 156s. Although they replaced many steam workings in the 1950s and 60s and therefore were not popular, many gave sterling service to the railways for 30 years. I first rode on them in the later half of the 1950s and their big advantage to young spotters like me was the view of steam if you could bag the front seats behind the driver!! Happy days!! The original Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton (OWW known as the 'Old Worse and Worse'!!) Depot at Worcester had just 3 more weeks before it was flattened after this image was taken at lunchtime on Sunday the 12th November 1989. Stabled there were 55032, 150 145 and T312. Dave Gommersall.
Overnight on Saturday the 2nd December 1989 the original OWW shed at Worcester Depot was demolished with much of the building used to fill in the pits seen in this photo. The shot was taken late on Sunday morning, the 3rd December 1989. The Depot continued to function with 2 DMUs started up for workings later that day - a Class 116 and Class 121 55033. Dave Gommersall.
On Christmas morning 1989 the station at WSH was open but nobody was on duty so I walked to the Depot to take this photo of the remains of the OWW building demolished on the 3rd December 1989, where there were some 116s and a 150. The depot pits had been filled in and the sign was no longer appropriate!!! Dave Gommersall.
Vehicle: 53055 Set: T342
T342 (presumably 53055 + 59673 + 53056) and an unrecorded 4-car DMU are stabled by Worcester Depot on Christmas morning 1989. Dave Gommersall.
