You can almost hear the rattle and buzz as Regional Railways Met Camms 101653 pulls away from Oulton Broad North heading towards Norwich on 6 April 1993. The mechanical signal with sighting board can be seen behind the unit, with the signal box to the right, and a telegraph pole ahead of the unit. The prominent building behind the unit, the George Borrow Hotel, is now a pharmacy but is thankfully still present, while the front of Pope Brothers garage can be seen on the left; this has since closed with a small estate of houses built on the land. The access road is named George Close, after one of the garage owners. The vehicle closest to the camera, DMBS 51426, was scrapped but DTCL 54358 would be preserved. Chris Boon.
