On one of the surviving remnants of the former Southern Railway 'withered arm' in North Devon, the British Telecom yellow liveried Class 117 three-car DMU formed of cars 51302, 59469 & 51317 (P460), was approaching Umberleigh on a glorious Summer evening with 18.33 Barnstaple to Exeter St Davids service on July 25th 1987. On Sunday 28th May 1989 the leading coach of Tyseley Set T416 was Class 115 Derby built 51876, seen here entering Leighton Buzzard Station. It was working a train from Birmingham via Northampton to Euston while the OHLW was off for maintenance so DMUs were substituting. AndrewHA.
