On 04/04/1980 a Class 105 (E56466 + E51283) arrives at Heworth, then a relatively new station which had opened to BR services on 05/11/1979. In the background, catenary masts for the Tyneside Metro system have yet to appear, although services started running to Heworth on 15/11/1981. Graeme Phillips Collection.
On 03/01/1978, a Class 105 forms the 1215 Newcastle-Sunderland seen at the construction site of Heworth station - the train appears to be following what would become the Metro tracks. Graeme Phillips Collection.

This a photo of a Class 101 at Heworth Station I think taken in the early 1980's when visiting Newcastle to see the new Metro system. Unfortunately I don't have any records of the date or time. Peter Crichton.
