This is the heather-strewn cutting north of Dent station, seen in August 1984. On a hazy afternoon, a four-coach DMU heads towards Carlisle with a service from Leeds. Andrew Walker.

30th August 1985

The time is 11.15 a.m. on Friday 30th August 1985, and a Leeds to Carlisle service formed of a four-car DMU passes Dent station. The weather later cleared and these passengers might have had the chance to enjoy the scenery on the return run. The visibility in Dentdale was certainly minimal at this point in the day. With two alighted passengers visible, a Carlisle Kingmoor allocated Class 108 DMU formed of cars M54252 & M53969 was departing from Dent with a Leeds to Carlisle service on a very murky October 6th 1986. Dent station was originally closed in May 1970, but reopened on July 14th 1986. Martyn Hilbert.

High in the Yorkshire Dales at England's highest mainline station, there is still frost on the sleepers just before midday on December 8th 1987 as a two-Car Class 108 DMU with 54249 leading, departs from Dent with the 10.05 Carlisle to Leeds stopping service. Martyn Hilbert.

A four-car DMU formation (2-car 101 and 2-car Class 108) passes under the "coal road" to Garsdale and heads through Dent station with a Leeds service on a sunny 17th June 1989. Leading is DMBS 51799. Andrew Walker.

BRCW class 110 'Calder Valley' DMU at Dent heading north under a foreboding sky, 29/Jul/1989. DMCL 51829 is leading DMBC 52066 and the set number is NL411 - set numbers were allocated but not carried at Neville Hill. Robert Chilton.
