Heading east along the North Wales coast at Old Colwyn on 6th June 1973 is a 4 car dmu formation, with the first set a Park Royal class 103 set, the second a Met-Camm class 101. With Colwyn Bay behind this view is very much changed with the A55 duel carriage expressway cutting through the fields in the foreground and through the houses on the left. Andrew J Crowther.

In the May of 1972 we were lucky enough to go on a school field trip to Colwyn Bay, in my final few months at junior school :) Even luckier for me, the boarding house was a few yards from the North Wales coast main line! Class 40s galore in 1972! Unfortunately, I was still using my primitive Kodak Brownie which wasn't much use for action photos [see my attempted Class 40 shots in the Comments section below]. However, in this instance, it looks like the DMU was stationary! The driver's door is open so I'm guessing the train had been signal-stopped and he'd gone to phone the signalman! So sharp I can just make out the leading coach as M50454 :) The boarding house has been swept away by the A55 now. Chris McKee.
A Class 108 DMU in Colwyn Bay station on 26 May 1987. Colin Brooks.
A DMU formation of at least six-cars (105, 105, maybe a 108) at Colwyn Bay. Date unknown, the slide process date was June 1978. With Accrington is the destination blind and the leading set being a power-twin this is probably a working to/from the Manchester area. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Vehicle: 51175
Metro-Cammell Class 101 Driving Motor Brake Second M51175 was stood at Colwyn Bay whilst leading a Manchester Victoria to Llandudno service on May 28th 1979. M51175 would eventually see out its days as part of Regional Railways liveried set 101658 and it was finally withdrawn from service in 2002. Martyn Hilbert.
