Seeing I had a camera, the driver of the Class 108 DMU waiting in platform 3 at Wigan North Western with the next service to Liverpool Lime Street invited me into the cab of car 52042 where I took this photo. In the foreground is the large wheel for the parking brake, behind is the red emergency brake and the silver lever is used by the driver to control the train's vacuum brakes. March 1982
