Its still the real railway at Ely as 2 Car Met-Cam DMU set L223 formed of 51444 + 54068 run past Ely Dock Jn with a terminating local service from Cambridge on 12th March 1990. In the sidings the death knell beckons as 31422 awaits departure with the electrification train. Within a few years the box will be closed, the signals felled, and ugly overhead wires will ruin the scene .... But thats progress - so I've been told .. !!
