As good as new. Swindon Works may not be building Castles or Westerns on 1 May 1976 but they still had pride in the job. Next to a row of silver painted refurbished Leyland 680 engines Class 116 DMBS 50849 is fully repainted, re-engined, and will soon be back on the network moving the masses. I do hope they remembered to put the drivers seat back! At the time it was allocated to Cricklewood depot, and just to the rear of the footsteps on the nearest bogie can be seen the LT Trip Cock apparatus for working over the widened lines.
