Yes, a 1st generation set did reach Mallaig! Nothing is known as to why it was there on Saturday 30th March 1974: I wondered if it was a wedding given how the people on the platform are dressed. If it’s a railtour, Six Bells Junction has nothing that corresponds to it. Any suggestions as to what it was doing there are most welcome! Photo uploaded by the kind permission of Tim Rushton, whose wife’s late uncle E. Springer took it.
