A Swindon Works image (negative 5CR 212) showing the Guards area of brand new Cross-Country Driving Motor Brake Composite Sc51786. I have this dated as 18 January 1960 however the vehicle was new to Kittybrewster on 12 December 1959. There were a few detail differences with the second batch (compare with 5CR 71). In both cases they used the same moquette pattern as the passenger saloon, this vehicle has a back for the seat on the right, the first batch didn't. This batch has three heater controls (a 'local' for each of the two on the vehicle and a guards 'through' control for the whole train). The first batch did not have the through control system and the controls would be in the cab.
