Seeing out its last days working from Longsight Depot as set LO253, and working mainly on local services from Manchester Piccadilly, Class 108 cars M54275 & M51421 were awaiting departure from platform 1 at Piccadilly with a service to New Mills Central on February 28th 1992. They (and other life-expired first generation units), were kept in service due to the then ongoing problems with the Class 142 Pacer fleet.
