Arnott Young, Dinsdale

The first DMUs vehicles purchased by the company for cutting at this location (also know as Fighting Cocks) were six Derby Lightweights withdrawn from Carlisle and delivered in June 1969:-
Peter Trushell / LMR Control Notes:
79608/79609/79611/79653 Cle (Carlisle?) to Dinsdale (Fighting Cocks) 16/06/1969
79015/79017 Cle (Carlisle?) to Dinsdale (Fighting Cocks) 18/06/1969
Cut dates are unknown, presumably soon afterwards.

In August of the same year Class 101 TBSL NE59051 arrived, withdrawn from South Gosforth for an unknown reason. Date of cutting unknown, it was still present on 28/10/1969 (Railway Observer 12/1969 p423).

The final vehicle purchased was Class 101 DTCL SC56395. BR Coaches Report 8/1974 notes it as sold 3/5/1974, Tender 52/230/552T/030, and delivered to Dinsdale 5/6/1974 ex-Craigentinny. However it was not cut there, it was returned to British Rail between November 1982 and January 1983 - probably nearer the latter as it was at Thornaby on 30/1/1983 awaiting boarding up due to asbestos contamination. It arrived at Mayer Newman Ltd Snailwell 20/1/1984 and burnt 1/2/1984 (Dave Root Burn List (Asbestos related)).

Also noted in the Peter Trushell / LMR Control Notes:
Instructions dated 12/9/1969 had 79639/79642/79675/79676 to move Cle (Carlisle?) to Fighting Cocks. Amended on 23/9/1969 to Old Kilpatrick, they moved direct from Carlisle to Old Kilpatrick in October 1969.
