22/05/81 - The first service across the reopened Barnmouth Bridge with the 10:42 from Shrewsbury formed of nine cars. The Pwlleli section unusually headed the formation, being 56343/51189, 51190/56340, 51182/56348, to save time when the Aberystwyth / Phllheli sections split. Chester wagon shops prepared a bi-lingual headboard.

Park Royal class 103 and Metropolitan-Cammell class 101 DMUs stabled in the former steam motive power depot at Machynlleth on 22nd August 1968. My notes state that the following units were present on shed: M50404-M56158, M50402-M56348 and M51190-M56157. Gordon Edgar.

DMBS M51190 leads a Class 101 formation at Rhyl on 15/05/1983 with a Manchester Victoria-Llandudno service. The second vehicle has a narrower grey band around the windows, which considerably alters the appearance, making it look more like a Class 108 at a glance. Graeme Phillips Collection.

Date: 27th September 1986

Class 101 51190 is seen at Tyseley on the arrival roads, 27.09.1986. The units stabled here have recently been transferred from other depot's, and Tyseley would try to put the best one's back into service. Andy Cole.

Set number: 830

51190 - the leading vehicle in set 830 seen at Southall circa October 1987 - has had the M prefix painted over on its number. 53333 is on the rear. Stuart Mackay Collection.

The vehicle is mentioned in the following images:

53333 is the closest vehicle (presumably with 59111 + 51190) in NSE-livered Class 101 set L830 seen at Cambridge in 1991. John Law.
