Class 116 DMU at Redditch

7th August 1982

The Grid Iron Grice railtour of August 1982 offered the novelty of class 56 haulage from the Southern Region for a tour of the West Midlands on 7 August 1982. 56 003 has backed onto the rear of the train at Redditch, as one of Tyseley’s mixed up class 116 sets (TS523, M50055 and possibly M59019 + M50116) arrives and has to use the adjacent platform. Class 116 DMU at Kenilworth Common

3rd December 1983

DMUs were unusual sights on the single-track Leamington Spa - Coventry line, normally exclusively the preserve of freight and inter-city trains. On December 3 1983, three-car TS523 trundles through Kenilworth Common with a special shuttle from Coventry to Leamington Spa due to bridge repairs at Oxford. Mel Holley.

29th September 1984

A Class 116 set arrives into Gloucester station on 29/9/84, carrying set number TS523 in the left cab window. Michael Mensing.

circa June 1985

Class 116 DMU set TS523, presumably 53903 + 59643 + 53075, arriving into Kings Norton station with a Longbridge service. The slide process date was June 1985. Stuart Mackay Collection.

November 1985

Class 116 DMBS from Tyseley set 523 which almost certainly makes this 53075. From a dark scratched neg, Birmingham New Street, November 1985. On Tour With The Class 13 Army.
