A three-car Pressed Steel Suburban DMU with Driving Motor Brake Second 51360 leading (presumably with 59512 + 51402), was passing Lostock Hall Junction with the Sunday Preston to Carlisle 'Dalesrail' service on May 7th 1988. Suburban type DMU's were never common sights around the Preston area, until several sets were transferred to Newton Heath in the latter part of the 1980's to provide cover for Class 142 Pacers that were being sidelined with various issues. By 1989 Sprinters were replacing DMUs on most services but on the 3rd May 1989 T302 (51402 and presumably 59512 + 51360) was on the 14.02 Birmingham New Street to Cardiff Central via WSH and is seen leaving Abbotswood Junction at 15.10, somewhat late! Possibly due to a failed 156xxx? Dave Gommersall.

A sunny but hazy morning at Longbridge Station on the 28th February 1992 sees T302 (presumably 51402 + 59512 + 51360) at the rear of an unrecorded 3 car DMU leave about 09.15 on a cross city service, whilst T417 is departing on a service to Redditch. Of note are the poles and electric wires just reaching Longbridge, as the line is being electrified. Dave Gommersall.
All change at Lichfield City Station on the 15th July 1992 where Class 117 set T302 (presumably 51360 + 59512 + 51402) has just left with the 13.22 to Redditch. The days of its semaphores are numbered, with some being dismantled and all are soon to be replaced by colour lights. Dave Gommersall.
