Class 116 DMU at Cardiff Bute Road

1986

Class 116 DMU set C305 (presumably 53131 + 59039 + 53089) at Cardiff Bute Road station in 1986, before much of the development which has transformed the Cardiff Bay area over the last 20 years. On the left can be seen the former station building, which also served as the headquarters of the Taff Vale Railway before 1923. In 1986 it had recently been renovated and was in use as a museum (including an excellent model of the station in the late 19th century). Tom Burnham.

With the centre car recently removed Class 116 set C305 (53089 and presumably 53131 is now running as a two-car. It is seen arriving at Cardiff Central from the valleys at 12:54 on 11 October 1987. Robert Thomas.
