Class 101 DMU at Princes Street Gardens

1st September 1981

An ex-works 101 338 (presumably 51466 + 59568 + 51535) is seen in Princes Street Gardens with a local service about to enter The Mound tunnel on the 1st September 1981. Andy Hoare.

Class 101 DMU at Eastfield depot

29th August 1983

DMBS Sc 51466 of set 101 338 at Eastfield Depot on 29/8/83, the day after colliding with a van that was allowed to roll away and drop 40 feet into the cutting near Eastfield shed where it was hit by the 20.58 Falkirk Grahamston to Glasgow Queen St service driven by Peter 'Diesel Pete' McQuade who promptly protected the opposite line preventing further disaster. October 1983

The damaged front has been cut away in preparation for repairs to start on Sc 51466 at Eastfield Depot, this really was a job for the Workshops but in an effort to manage costs and see what a depot could do Eastfield undertook the repair themselves, it took several months but a very good job was done and the staff were rightly proud of this. 11th May 1987

101338 (Sc51466 + Sc59568 + Sc51535) heads out of Wester Hailes station in Edinburgh, which opened that day - 11th May 1987, with the 17:48 Edinburgh - West Calder. Hamish Stevenson.

Class 101 DMU at Glasgow Queen Street

30th August 1987

101338 (presumably 51535 + 59568 + 51466) in Glasgow Queen Street Low Level with the outward leg of the BLS 'The Firth of Lorne' tour to Oban. 107440 was on the other end. Stuart Mackay Collection.

30th August 1987

101338 (and 107440) heads away from Garscadden station and is now passing Yoker EMU depot out of sight on the left. They are on their way to Oban with the BLS 'Firth of Lorne' tour on 30 August 1987. Brian Ward.

Class 101 DMU at Vic Berrys Scrapyard, Leicester

5th June 1988

2 stripped out Class 101 TCL vehicles are stacked in Vic Berry's yard in Leicester along with a withdrawn Mark 1 Sleeping Car on the 5th June 1988. In the foreground is Class 101 TCL SC59568 in blue / grey livery formerly of Eastfield TMD Glasgow, and latterly the centre vehicle in set 101338, while sitting on top of it is TCL SC59560 in Strathclyde orange / black livery formerly of Ayr MPD and latterly the centre vehicle in set 107440. The last three digits of the sets are visible on the bottom right of the vehicle ends. Bob Woolnough.
