Metro-Cammell class 101 dmu E53171 forms part of the RCTS railtour "Mancunian Railtour" stands in platform 1 at Buxton, in the company of Derby Lightweights class 108 dmu's M52060 and M53636, a rare visit of a class 101 to Buxton. 30th August 1986. Andrew J Crowther.

Seen at Buxton on 3rd October 1986 in what is now in its second role, but originally built as 4 car units is this 1959 Derby Suburban now a Longsight allocated class 127 dmu set 915, 55985 (51619) + 55984 (51639). From new these units were almost exclusively used on the London St Pancras - Bedford services as 4-car units before being displaced in June 1983, in 1985 22 redundant power cars which had been stored at Carlisle were rebuilt to form 11 two car parcels units, car A was for Express Parcels and car B was for Newspapers, they lasted in service until 1989. Having climbed the incredibly steep banking next to Buxton Shed something I did only once! this is the result, a fine view of class 45/0 locomotive 45033 (D39) with one of the White trade marked Buxton class 108 dmus sticking it's nose out of the shed. 3rd October 1986. Andrew J Crowther.

Cravens Class 105 DMU E56142 now converted to a Sandite Unit and received the departmental number of ADB977048 and based at Buxton, but still seems to have retained its first class compartment! Also on shed is Railfreight liveried class 47/3 locomotive 47378 (D1875). 19th October 1986. Andrew J Crowther.
