Two dmus & a Ford Transit van at the London terminus of the Great Central Railway's extension, at Marylebone on 31st December 1975. It opened 76 years earlier & was virtually unchanged. The right-hand train is departing for Aylesbury. Before privatisation British Rail removed the right-hand platforms & roof during the 1990 remodelling. However the platform awning on the far right was retained and fitted to the left-hand span. However with the increase in traffic the station proved to be too small & additional platforms were opened by Chiltern Railways. Pete LG99.
London Marylebone on 31st December 1975, in the days before the upgrade of the lines out of the ex-Great Central Railway Marylebone station & the sale to Chiltern Railways, BR ran dmus on all the services. Here a Class 116 dmu (an unusual type for this station) arrives past the semaphore signals that controlled movements at that time while a Class 115 is stabled near the turntable until rush hour. Pete LG99.

When snowfall came to London in January 1985, presenting unusual photographic opportunities, I couldn't resist capturing Marylebone station a few years before modernisation took place. Class 115 DMU (power cars 51667 and 51674) leaves a smoke trail as it departs and passes beneath Rossmore Road forming an Aylesbury service on 15 January 1985. The Marylebone class 115 sets, which were later transferred to Bletchley but remained on Chiltern Line duties, were declared surplus after the introduction of Class 165s from 1991 onwards and the final Class 115 working out of Marylebone was in July 1992.
