The Papal visit to Bellahouston Park in 1982 required the use of a large number of extra trains - as a result most of the then surviving Class 126 units were mobilised. Sc51026 is seen here in the (now former) carriage sidings at Smithy Lye on 01/06/82. As the DMBS vehicle determines the unit number, it was unusual for a Swindon DMS to carry a set number. Two refurbished Class 116 DMUs arrive into Lye station in the summer of 1977. Several doors are wide open towards the centre of the formation despite there being at least two coach lengths to go before the train stops. At the front is set TS526, presumably 50070 + 59026 + 50095. Michael Mensing.

A mixed industrial scene between Cradley Heath and Lye stations on the Birmingham to Droitwich line on 4 July 1987 as class 116 T629 presumably formed of 53114 + 59592 + 53079 worked from Birmingham New Street to Stourbridge Junctions where it would have reversed and gone back to the city.
