A Swindon Inter-City at Beith North, just north of Glengarnock with Sc51025 leading, circa 1982. As the DMBS vehicle determines the unit number it was unusual for a Swindon DMS to carry it and Sc51025 unusually (and incorrectly in this period) carried 126418. It did however make the vehicle easy to identify even in blurry shots 30-odd years later... Andrew McConnell.

126418 in Glasgow Central, probably taken in 1982. Intermediate power car Sc51025 is closest, one of only a handful to carry the set number on the plated-over gangway, on most sets only the DMBS carried this detail. Ian MacDonald.

The Papal visit to Bellahouston Park in 1982 required the use of a large number of extra trains - as a result most of the then surviving Class 126 units were mobilised. Sc51026 is seen here in the (now former) carriage sidings at Smithy Lye on 01/06/82. As the DMBS vehicle determines the unit number, it was unusual for a Swindon DMS to carry a set number.
