This image was rescued, using Mac software, from a grossly under-exposed transparency. I recorded the location as "near Llanrwst" (we were on a family holiday based in this village at the time) and the only record I have of the DMU is that one car was 51224. It was paired with 51533 in unit 101679. The train is the 09.35 Blaenau-Llandudno and the date was 28 July 1997.
