In happy days when Selby was on the ECML and Deltics still roamed freely, a Swindon built 'Inter-City' Class 123 Motor Brake Second (MBS) E52087 was bringing-up the rear of a Manchester Piccadilly to Hull service, awaiting departure from Selby on September 12th 1981. The former Western Region car had become part of a Class 123/124 'Transpennine' set allocated to Hull Botanic Gardens. The full four-car formation being E52087 (123), E59767 (124), E59765 (124) & E51964 (124).
