62.   Watford - St.Albans Branch.

Noted, that the first unit is still with the Southern Region for a further four weeks, after which it is going back to the B.U.T. Works and then on to Derby Works for modifications.  An order for second unit has been submitted to B.T.C. and authority is now awaited.  Agreed advisable that complete diesel service be introduced at one time and that Mr.Stanley get in touch with B.U.T. in order that there may be no delay in getting alterations to first unit dealt with quickly, also to ensure that second unit conforms to pattern of first unit before delivery.  Question of sliding doors to be settled between O.S., C.&W.E. and B.U.T.  Maintenance, fuelling and cleaning will be carried out at carriage shed at Watford.

Reference was made to the Chief Financial Officer's letter of the 29th October, and it was agreed that no alteration be made in the figures already submitted for this scheme.

63.   Manchester - Buxton Line.

Noted, that complete details of the revised scheme will be in the hands of the Accountant for costing by not later than the end of November 1953, and Mr.Dade will complete the report a week after receipt.

64.   Bury - Bacup Branch.

Agreed the report on this branch be considered in detail at next meeting.

65.   Blaenau Festiniog - Llandudno Junction Branch.

Agreed that this branch be the next to be considered for operation by diesel units.  Scheme to be prepared on lines of previous schemes and investigation to extend beyond limits of branch as may be desirable.

66.   Costs.

Chief Financial Officer's letter of 29th October noted and copies of revised costs compilations handed round.  Agreed, that, in order to ascertain what differences the revised compilations will make, the West Cumberland scheme be re-costed to the new formula and copies circulated to members of the Committee.
