A new blue square Derby Lightweight DMU at Llandudno Junction circa 1959, seemingly changing platforms. Note the destination blind (Blaenau Ffestiniog North) at this end is in the angled overlapping format, the one on the opposite end (Blaenau Ffestiniog) was a single line. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A Derby Lightweight power twin arrives at Llandudno Junction circa 1964. Closest seems to be M79189, allocated to Llandudno Junction at the time. The vehicle was allocated to eight different depots (7 LMR and one ScR) before being withdrawn in June 1967, when it then spent a short spell as an Eastern Region route learner. A BRC&W DMU arriving at Llandudno Junction from Llandudno in 1967 with a through service to Rhyl. A comment added to the image on flickr by Merfyn Jones notes that it was taken from the top deck of a bus. The crossing had been replaced by a flyover in 1969. The pub was the Maelgwyn which was demolished to make way for a temporary crossing while the flyover was built along the line of the existing road. The box on the left was Llandudno Junction Crossing, while the signals in the background were the Up Main Homes for Llandudno Junction No.2 box. Ian Dinmore/railarchive.org.uk.

A pair of Metro-Cammell DMUs (M56339 leads) approach Llandudno Junction from Llandudno itself in June 1976. Whilst an estate agent might not see the proximity of the line to the back gardens in Glan Y Mor Road as a selling point, I suspect that some of us would think otherwise! Kevin Lane.
