The front end is incomplete, the lamp bracket under the centre cab window has still to be added and the jumper sockets and marker lamp fronts are unpainted. British Railways.

The new and paint date on the vehicle end is 26 March 1954 and this was probably taken very soon after. Note the exhausts do not join above the gangway as they did on the later yellow diamond vehicles. British Railways.

The water filler pipes were also for the engine coolant expansion tanks in the roof space. British Railways.
