On the bright afternoon of September 20th 1981, a variety of dmus grace Sheffield station. The identity of the Class 108 in the middle background is unknown,on the left in the shadows is a Trans-Pennine set with E51964 at the front, while out in the sun is a sparkling Metro-Cammell Class 111 three car set : E51552 + E59106 + E51542. On 07/12/1984, a Class 111 DHBS is seen calling at Church Fenton on way to Rochdale Graeme Phillips Collection.

26th January 1983
On a very dark January 26th 1983, Metro-Cammell power twin E50280 + E50275 loads up at March whilst working the 10.38 Doncaster - Cambridge. It was unusual to see a power twin set in East Anglia and this one was based at Leeds Neville Hill depot. Two months earlier these services had been diverted via Peterborough following closure of the joint line from March to Spalding. Gerard Fletcher.
