MINUTES OF MEETING OF NOVEMBER 27TH, 1959

Agreed.

730.  GENERAL MATTERS OF POLICY

1.  Programme of Diesel Multiple Unit Operation

(a)  Position of schemes still to be submitted

Mr.Gould stated that a further departmental meeting had been held on December 17th at which there was broad agreement with the Accountant and Chief Civil Engineer on the target dates.  A new schedule was in course of preparation which would show only minor alterations from the schedule of November 18th and would not amend the building programmes.  In reply to the Chairman Mr.Gould said that the target dates on the new schedule would be firm.

(b)  Works Building Programme, 1961

Statements of present and future requirements of diesel multiple units (attached as appendix 'B') were considered.  Mr.Randle intimated that the 228 vehicles to be built in 1961 met the Works programme, but stressed the necessity for authority for vehicles for individual schemes to be given progressively up to June, 1960, to enable ordering of materials to be planned.
