(b) With regard to 5 Derby built (MC + MC) units which will not couple to vehicles now being built, it has been agreed in principle to engine, transmission, together with bogies and complete with final drive being removed from these units and replaced by trailer bogies.  The power bogies, engines, transmission etc. removed from these units can be used on a future build.  C.& W.Engineer to supply details of cost to Mr.Robson and General Manager.

576.  SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE BUT NOT YET SUBMITTED TO B.T.C.

1.  Birmingham Part 2.

Units now in course of delivery and being utliised temporarily in other schemes.  Mr.Gould stated that, to enable steam engines to be displaced from Ryecroft M.P. depot, part of this scheme will be introduced on June 9th, 1958.  The timetable will be unaltered and diesel units will be run in steam train timings.  The Chairman said that authority for this diesel service has not yet been obtained and it was very essential that a complete submission should be made to the General Manager without further delay.

2.  North Wales Part 3 (Wrexham, Chester and New Brighton)

The Chairman said that the preparation of the submission for this scheme should now proceed on the basis of the decision recorded in minute 571(3).

3.  Liverpool Lime Street - St.Helens - Wigan

Noted report now in circulation and will shortly be submitted to General Manager.
