466.  SCHEMES AUTHORISED BY B.T.C. BUT NOT YET IN OPERATION  (Contd.)

2.  Harrow - Belmont

Noted that delivery of this unit is not now expected before March 1957.

467.  SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE BUT NOT YET SUBMITTED TO B.T.C.

1.  Wrexham, Chester, Bidston & Seacombe

The commitee made a tour of inspection of the lines in this area proposed for operation by diesel units, after which discussion arose on the preliminary report.

The Chairman said that after viewing the various stations concerned it was his view, with which the committee agreed, that the scheme should be further developed and a full report, including costings, be submitted as quickly as possible.

In the preparation of the full report, regard to be paid to the following :-

(a)  If possible a more frequent service of diesel trains to be introduced or, alternatively, the present steam train times to be improved upon.

(b)  Question of closing the Seacombe Branch and terminating the diesel service at Birkenhead Park.

(c)  Use of spare units on other branches at off peak periods.

(d)  Fixed time interval service; regard to be paid to the present train times required for John Summers' staff at Hawarden Bridge halt.

(e)  D.T.S.Chester considers that for his part an increased revenue would be possible by the introduction of a diesel service.

(f)  Halt at Woodchurch Road, Birkenhead, to be considered.

(g)  Possibility of combining the two stations at Wrexham Exchange to avoid the rebuilding of Wrexham Central.

(h)  Heavy gradients.  Possibility of use of 200 H.P. engines to be considered.
