(d)  Drivers' Seats.

Mr.Stanley will arrange for seat to be available for inspection by next meeting.

6.  Condition of passenger stations concerned in Diesel Schemes.

Mr.Butland reported that the improvement of the appearance of stations concerned in diesel schemes is well in hand and Mr.Salmon is dealing with the question of re-signing and modernisation of advertising equipment as necessary.

7.  National Federation of Women's Institutes.

Noted that B.T.C. have agreed to this Federation being advised of all new diesel schemes put into operation, and an advice of the Buckingham - Banbury experiment has already been sent by the General Manager, who will take similar action regarding future schemes.

454.  RAIL CARS FOR RURAL AREAS.

1.  General Policy

Mr.Varley reported result of meeting at B.T.C. on August 10th. A number of German type rail cars are to be built by Wickham's, Park Royal, etc. up to six of which may be allocated to the L.M.Region. Agreed that minutes of meeting of August 10th be circulated to members of the Committee, together with drawings. Messrs.Gould and Read to report where these can be utilised, Mr.Stanley to report on construction of cars and Mr.Butland from permanent way angle.

2.  Buckingham - Banbury Line

Messrs.Gould and Read reported that this experiment, which commenced on August 13th, was proceeding satisfactorily, the traffic receipts for the first four days being £86 compared with £35 for the same period in 1955.

Mr.Gould said that some difficulty was being experienced in dealing with parcels traffic in the car with the smaller brake compartment, and the matter was being watched as to whether it would be necessary to increase the parcels accomodation in this car.

Mr.Adkinson reported that the two cars are being worked on alternate days and the Chairman asked for this method of working to be watched having regard to tyre wear, and the possibility of the two cars requiring maintenance at the same time.
