439.  GENERAL MATTERS OF POLICY

1.  Minutes of meeting of 15th March 1956.

Agreed

2.  Programme of Light Weight Diesel operation over the next five years.

Mr.Gould reported that this review was continuing vigorously but until it is decided what action is to be taken respecting trains carrying less than 100 passengers, it is not possible to give a firm estimate of the number of units likely to be required over the next five years. The consideration which has been given to the matter up to the present has been revealed that approximately 400 units will be required.

3.  Future schemes in course of preparation but not yet considered by Committee
