345.  WATFORD - ST.ALBANS BRANCH

Noted that the new diesel service commenced on July 25th. Mr.Stanley said that the jumper cables of the new set and spares will not couple to the old set, and the Chairman will speak to Mr.Ellis of B.U.T.

346.  HARROW - BELMONT BRANCH

Delivery date of 3-car unit is April-May 1956. C.O.S. and C.C.M. are reviewing schedule of workings for possible greater utilisation when new set is received, and the Chairman asked for consideration to be given to a service from Belmont to Stanmore being introduced.

347.  MANCHESTER AREA (PART 1)

Mr.Johnson's letter re use of diesel locomotives, together with diesel units, noted, and the Chairman asked for a joint report from the officers concerned as early as possible.

348.  BURY - BACUP SCHEME

Noted that Metro-Cammell cannot give an earlier date for delivery than September 1955.

349.  BIRMINGHAM SCHEME (PART 1).

(a) Steel girder frame of canopy - Lichfield City Station. Mr.Butland reported that the work has commenced on removal of the canopy.

(b) Low platforms at Sutton Coldfield and Blake St.  Mr.Butland stated that the platform at Sutton Coldfield is in good condition and to raise the level it has been estimated to cost £5,750 (Capital account £4,336, Revenue account £1,414). Agreed that Mr.Butland submit under the new works procedure.

With regard to Blake Street, the timbers are in poor condition and require renewal in concrete at an estimated cost of £6,965 (Revenue account).

350.  RHYL - DENBIGH - CORWEN LINE

Noted that the line from Denbigh to Ruthin will come under consideration with the North Wales (Part 2) scheme.
