338.  CONVEYANCE OF PARCELS TRAFFIC

Mr.Gould said that the layout required for the three diesel parcels vans for West Cumberland was as shown on drawing DE/56370 and that the layout shown on drawing DE/56462 which had been submitted subsequently would not meet operating requirements.

Mr.Stanley considered that to meet the requirements of the Chief Operating Superintendent it would be necessary for the parcels vans to be built with steel frames, and in the circumstances MrGould suggested that the three vehicles scheduled to be built at Derby as parcels vans be built as passenger carrying vehicles, and delivery of the three parcels vans be deferred until they could be provided out of steel frame stock.

In the meantime, the parcels traffic would continue to be conveyed by steam traffic.

It was agreed that Mr.Varley would discuss the matter with Mr.Robson.
