321. WEST CUMBERLAND SCHEME  (Contd.)

(e) Cumberland Motor Services Ltd.

Noted that Mr.Arkle is dealing with complaint from this Company respecting increased diesel services in the area.

(f) Servicing and Maintenance.

 (i) Workington - Mr.Adkinson waiting further information from C.C.E re additional expenditure for workshop, etc.

(ii) Carlisle (Upperby) - Mr.M'Ilmoyle reported that work has commenced on the deepening of the pits and will probably be completed by the end of September.

322. WATFORD - ST.ALBANS BRANCH.

(a) First Unit - See Minute 323 re Harrow-Belmont Branch.

(b) Delivery of second unit and 2 spares. - Noted that all 5 cars will be on rail at Park Royal on June 24th. Mr.Stanley is arranging inspection and will advise C.O.S. when ready for service.  C.O.S., C.C.M. and P.R.& P.O. to agree actual date of commencement of complete diesel service and advise General Manager.

323. HARROW - BELMONT BRANCH.

Noted that B.U.T. have quoted delivery date of 3-car units for April-May 1956. Following the visit of the Chairman to this Branch, C.O.S. and C.C.M. will review the present schedule of workings to ascertain whether, when the new set is introduced into service in 1956, there will be any possibility of obtaining greater utilisation of the set and men.

324. MANCHESTER AREA SCHEME (PART 1)

Information regarding number of units required for Eastern Operating Area of this scheme still awaited and Mr.Varley will contact Mr.Fiennes.

325. BURY - BACUP SCHEME

Noted dates of delivery of 7 2-car sets from Metro-Cammell is now September-October 1955.

326. BIRMINGHAM SCHEME (PART 1)

(a) Steel girder frame of canopy at Lichfield City Station. A scheme has been prepared for removing present canopy and matter is in hand between C.C.E. and C.O.S. as to length of replacement canopy required.

(b) Low platforms at Sutton Coldfield and Blake Street. Mr.M'Ilmoyle stated that estimates are being prepared for raising these platforms.
