Destination Blinds

Bristol

Black on white, fabric blind. Bristol depot blind, undated.

Greg Scott notes: "Wells closed in 1963 and Calne in 1965, so they're both a good indication of the date of the blind. Perhaps this one was fitted from new.

The inclusion of Barnstaple on the Bristol blind and not the Laira blind is interesting. I'm drawing the conclusion that this is probably for trains routed along the former Exe Valley Line from Taunton, because there's no photo evidence (that I've seen anyway) that any of the Southern region stations in Devon and Cornwall had blinds that showed their stations, e.g. the route to Barnstaple via Crediton."
