Met-Camm Class 101 DMBS (Driving Motor Brake Second)

Midland Railway Centre

E50253 was new to Darlington (51A) as part of a power twin paired with E50263.

In 1992 it was refurbished at Doncaster, and formed into set 101 692 with 50170 and 59303 allocated to Haymarket.

It was transferred to Corkerhill, losing the centre car, and painted into Strathclyde ("red") SPT livery. The set was then selected to be given a special livery for the inauguration of the Motherwell - Cumbernauld passenger services. It retained this when transferred to Longsite.

It was withdrawn in October 2003. It is now part of the Midland Railway Centre fleet, along with its 1992 partners 53170 & 59303.

Railcar50 will mark the return to traffic of 53253.
