Thirty 4-car sets were built for workings out of St. Pancras to Bedford. They were formed DMBS / TS / TSL / DMBS.

After replacement by electric units some DMBS's were converted to parcels cars.

55976 will be on display at Bewdley partially converted back into 51625, showing some of the activities involved in DMU preservation.
