59389 was bought as a grounded body. All the underframe equipment had been burnt off, so it was not considered a viable preservation project. It was stripped of remaining parts and dismantled at the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, Ruddington. This section was kept, with the option of turning one of the DMCs into a TC. 20th July 2001.
