DMU set formationsFrom quite an early stage some regions gave DMUs set numbers, and the use of these spread over the years. By the time of the last 'big' passenger withdrawals, these 101s were known more by there set numbers that by vehicle. The carrying of set numbering on the vehicles has several variations, starting as a plate on the solebar of WR cars, there have also been loose numbers fitted inside the cab windows, but the most common place was below the drivers window. There are of course many sets that were never given set numbers, but listing these will act as a historical record and of no doubt much use to modellers. It was common for vehicles to be switched between sets, sometimes daily, making a definitive record of these virtually impossible, and so these pages are intended only as examples rather than the whole story. But please submit any details that you can, to stuart@railcar.co.uk. The Gallery pages also have many classes sorted out by set numbers. Set Formations Example Formations Individual Set Details |
