Fluid Flywheel - Lubrication from BUT manual ***IMPORTANT - SEE NOTES BELOW*** (refer to pictures: section through A-type or L-type, exploded view of L-type, and part cut away.) To Drain the Fluid Coupling To drain the fluid coupling turn the engine with a suitable lever until one of the plugs (there are four on the L-type and three on the A-type engine) in the rear facing of the coupling is at the bottom. Remove the plug and allow the oil to drain into a suitable receptacle. To allow the oil to drain away quickly on the L-type engine the top plug may be removed. Replace this plug when draining has been completed. To Fill or Top-up the Fluid Coupling Turn the engine as previously described until the filller plug hole is at the top. Using a suitable funnel, pour oil into the coupling up to the level of the filler plug hole, ensure that the copper washer is in position on the plug and then refit and tighten the filler plug. The capacities of the two types of fluid couplings are as follows: A-type engine Total capacity 4 1/2 gallons (20.5
litres) While the above information is taken from the BUT
Manual - these procedures have now changed. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
