Welcome to the refurbished railcar website - and apologies that it's been a long time coming. The old site became too much to handle, a badly outdated giant that as a personal project I was able to devote less and less time to, and needed a break from.

I won't necessarily be able to spend any more time on this version, but the intention will be to gradually recreate a more timeless record of the years that the first generation DMUs spent in traffic with British Railways and the companies that followed.

Their time in preservation is dealt with independently in a separate section which you can find here.

SITE NAVIGATION

The new layout of the "class" sections will have smaller pages than the previous incarnation, making each more readable, and more like a book - to turn to the next page use the "next" at the bottom right of the lower navigation bar.
While reading these pages from beginning to end will be a complete story, there will be links in the text leading to additional background information - these will open in new tabs or new pages (depending on your browser) - keeping the main thread of the story open to continue with. Where pictures are linked to full sized images (the thumbnails will have a blue border) these will also open in new tabs / pages.
