Following withdrawal from East Anglian branch line services, Metropolitan-Cammell 2-car unit E79057-E79273, amongst others, were stored at the former 32B Ipswich motive power depot pending movement for scrap and were photographed there on 2 May 1971. Gordon Edgar.

Damaged Met-Camm Lightweight E79064 in the scrapyard area of Swindon Works on March 12, 1972. No information has come to light as to what happened to the vehicle, other than it's though that the damage happened there and lack of rust on the exposed steel body makes it seem recent.
