The Chairman of the Scottish Area Board Sir Ian Bolton speaks to the driver of AC Cars railbus Sc79979 D. Stewart at Gleneagles on 19th September 1958. The railbus, the first to arrive in Scotland, operated a demonstration run to Blackford and back for officials. British Railways.

Instamatic Interludes. Class 126 with DMSL leading has the road south to Belmont Crossing thence the single line to Girvan. The Inter-City is on the 13:35 Glasgow Central to Girvan working. The excursion platform is visible beyond the over bridge. The rear of the imposing Station Hotel is to the right, long before closure and the slide into ruination. Last Day No.17. Cravens 105 373 crosses the viaduct over the River Gryffe at Bridge of Weir. It is heading east towards the station on the 14:01 Kilmacolm - Glasgow Central service. An old notebook suggests this was DMBS E50384 (nearest) + DMBS E51301 + DTSL E56464. The girder bridge crosses a minor road to the then children's home at Quarriers Village. There was a tannery on the other side of the viaduct which is long gone. However, leather manufacture still exists in Bridge of Weir at a modern facility on the other side of town by the Locher Water. Saturday 08 January 1983. alicia hartman.

Last Day No.16. Looking west as Cravens triple 105373 accelerates away from Bridge of Weir station towards Kilmacolm on the 13:07 working from Glasgow Central. An old notebook suggests this was DMBS E50384 + DMBS E51301 + DTSL E56464 (nearest to camera). A Ford Capri is turning onto the parallel Main Street (A761) which rises to cross over the railway on the skew at the station. Saturday 08 January 1983. alicia hartman.

Last Day No.15. Derby 107 435 returns from Kilmacolm on the 13:01 working to Glasgow Central. It is crossing the Locher Water on the Lochermill Viaduct and heading towards Houston and Crosslee station. Cars on the A761 are visible above the DMU by the fenceline and Ranfurly, on the outskirts of Bridge of Weir, on the hillside beyond. Not sure what the driver has rolled up in the cab - a last day souvenir poster perhaps! Saturday 08 January 1983. alicia hartman.
