Set: 914

Class 127 55984, set number 914, is seen stabled outside the Factory at Tyseley on 28.06.1987. This was converted from 51639. Andy Cole.

Set: 915

Class 127 55985, set number 915, is seen at Tyseley on 03.05.1986 unusually coupled with 54052, and not it's usual partner 55975. 55985 was converted from 51619. Andy Cole.

Set: 915

Seen at Buxton on 3rd October 1986 in what is now in its second role, but originally built as 4 car units is this 1959 Derby Suburban now a Longsight allocated class 127 dmu set 915, 55985 (51617) + 55984 (51639). From new these units were almost exclusively used on the London St Pancras - Bedford services as 4-car units before being displaced in June 1983, in 1985 22 redundant power cars which had been stored at Carlisle were rebuilt to form 11 two car parcels units, car A was for Express Parcels and car B was for Newspapers, they lasted in service until 1989. Class 127 55986, set number 916, is seen stabled at Tyseley on 10.04.1988. This was converted from 51627, and like all the others had roller doors fitted. Andy Cole.

Now in its second role, but originally built as 4 car units, is this 1959 Derby Suburban now a Chester allocated Class 127 DMU, set 916 (55986 + 55976). From new these units were almost exclusively used on the London St Pancras - Bedford services as 4-car units before being displaced in June 1983, in 1985 22 redundant power cars which had been stored at Carlisle were rebuilt to form 11 two car parcels units, car A was for Express Parcels and car B was for Newspapers, they lasted in service until 1989. Taken on the 11th June 1988 at Crewe. Andrew J Crowther.

Framed in Victoria bridge 55987/55977 leave Manchester Victoria at 08:58 on 23/11/85. The headcode displayed - 9A - the steam shed code for Longsight and 7 for set 917? Paul Moxon.
