Class 127 55971, set number 911, is seen on Tyseley Carriage sidings on 28.06.1987 . One of the cars was labeled for Parcels and one was for Newspapers. How times change when both types of traffic have been lost. This was converted from 51597. Andy Cole.

An assortment of parcels DMUs converted from former "Bed-Pan" hydraulic class 127 units stand forlornly withdrawn in Crewe Basford Hall yard on 21/Jul/1990, with 55975 (formerly 51615) nearest. Three of these units were subsequently preserved. Behind 55975 can just be seen departmental coach ADB977191, formerly class 100 56106, which was later moved for storage at Crewe Brook Sidings and ultimately disposed of at Crewe Works in 2000. This 1959 Derby Suburban Class 127 DMU vehicle is now in its second role as a parcels unit, Chester allocated set 916 (55976 + 55986). This car 55976 was originally numbered 51625 and was later preserved. Taken at Crewe on the 11th June 1988. Andrew J Crowther.

When the Class 127 DMUs finally bowed out of the St. Pancras - Bedford services, 22 power cars were resurrected from store at Carlisle Upperby (one of them, the pioneer 51951, was re-claimed from the NRM) and converted for parcels use. They were formed into 11 two car sets and allocated to Longsight in Manchester. Here set 918 with 55978 at the rear of 55968 is being led by set 912 (55972 & 55982) at Stafford, 20/Aug/1988. Parcels unit 918 (55978 formerly 51608 and 55968 formerly 51637), converted from the power cars of a former "Bed-Pan" hydraulic class 127 set, sitting sadly withdrawn and awaiting it's fate at Crewe Gresty Lane sidings. Three of these ex-parcels power cars were preserved and currently (2018) all three are at the Midland Railway - Butterley. Robert Chilton.
