In BR blue livery Class 126 DMSL SC51025 is stabled on Ayr MPD on the 2nd May 1978. Delivered in October 1959 Ayr would be the only depot she was ever allocated to being withdrawn from there in August 1982 and scrapped by Mayer Newman Scrapyard, Snailwell, Cambridgeshire during November 1983. Class 126 DMBSL SC51031 from Set 401 is stabled on Ayr MPD on the 2nd May 1978. Other than the rail blue livery the vehicle is as it was delivered to BR in May 1959. Unfortunately this would not last long as less than a year later SC51031 was involved in a tragic accident upon leaving Paisley Gilmour Street Station on the 16th April 1979 when it was involved in a head on collision with a Class 303 unit and SC51031 was cut up on site. In BR blue/grey livery but still fitted with head code panels Class 126 DMSL SC50936 looks recently ex overhaul as it sits in the sunshine of Ayr MPD, it’s home from delivery in 1959 to withdrawal in 1982, on the 15th October 1978. Later towed to East Anglia 50936 went through the firing tunnel in Mayer Newman’s scrapyard at Snailwell in October 1982. Bob Woolnough.

This 'intermediate' car (the now preserved 51017) still has it's gangway fitted, and carries a cover once commonly used on the back of hauled stock. The Class 126s generally always ran latterly with the buckeyes permanently raised. Malcolm Clements.
